Phillip Albanese
President and CEO
As president and CEO of Joseph J. Albanese, Inc., Phillip Albanese is following in the footsteps of his father John Albanese and his grandfather Joe Albanese, who founded the company in 1955. Phillip took the reins in 2020 following the transition of leadership from Kevin Albanese.
Focused on the mission of “getting it done safely,” Phillip is dedicated to living his company’s core values of safety, people, quality and truth. Phillip believes that success is much more than the buildings and structures the company builds. He is committed to continuing to generate opportunities for his talented team while creating value for the company’s clients and society overall.
Phillip has worked in many positions throughout the organization. Most importantly was his experience working in the field during the summers while growing up. He still credits this experience as the foundation for both his passion and admiration for the talent of the Joseph J. Albanese team. Since 2009, Phillip has led system and process development and implementations that have been the cornerstone to the responsible growth the organization has enjoyed. He looks to keep the organization’s energy on creating opportunities for his team and clients.
Phillip graduated from Boston College in 2008 and currently serves on the Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit High School board of directors. He actively supports causes relating to education, conservation of the outdoors and rugby in the United States. He and his wife Lindsey have two daughters and a son.
Jeff Jacobs
Executive Vice President, Sales
Jeff Jacobs joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. as a part-time construction worker while he was still in college. After college graduation, he worked with company founder Joe and his son John Albanese where he learned the business from the ground up. Today, as the executive vice president of Business Development, Project Management and Estimating, Jeff oversees and mentors the company’s many estimators and project managers, helping ensure accurate bids that deliver on-time, on-budget projects. Jeff earned a B.A. degree from Santa Clara University.

Jeremy Schalk
General Manager
Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. Mountain West
As general manager of Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. Mountain West in Boise, Jeremy Schalk oversees clients and projects in the Idaho region. Jeremy was previously vice president of operations for Wright Brothers, The Building Company, Eagle LLC in Eagle, Idaho. Altogether, he worked with Wright Brothers for more than eight years, serving as project manager and project engineer prior to being promoted to vice president. Prior to his experience in Idaho, he was a project engineer Hensel Phelps in Tucson Arizona.
Projects he worked on for Wright Brothers include Cherie Buckner-Webb Park, Riverpoint Apartments and St. Ignatius Catholic School. Projects he worked on for Hensen Phelps included Environmental Research Building (ENR II) on the University of Arizona Campus.
Jeremy is a graduate of Boise State University with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. He is a LEED Green Associate as certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. He also completed the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) and was awarded a credential from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2015.
He is driven by his personal motto of “Say what you do and do what you say.”

Thomas Sperbeck
Project Executive
Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. Mountain West
As project executive in Boise for Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. Mountain West, Thomas Sperbeck oversees clients and projects in the Idaho region. Thomas was previously a project manager with Wright Brothers, The Building Company, Eagle LLC in Eagle, Idaho. Prior to his experience in Idaho, he was a project engineer at MarketOne Builders, Inc. in Sacramento, California.
Projects he worked on at Wright Brothers included CTC Telecom Office, Advanced Marble and Granite Building, and Glenplace Townhomes. Projects he worked on at MarketOne Builders included Gemini Bio Products Lab, EA Capital Games Office and Younger Creek Extraction Facility.
Thomas is a graduate of Boise State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He also completed the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP). Thomas is also OSHA 30 certified.
During his time at Boise State University, Thomas was a starting wide receiver for Boise State Football (2013–2016) and was selected Team Captain (2016), honored as a two-time Academic All-Mountain West Team member (2014–2015) and received the 2014 Fiesta Bowl MVP Award. He currently holds the all-time Boise State Receiving Yards record at 3,601 yards.
He lives by his personal motivation, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
