Phillip Albanese

Phillip Albanese

President and CEO

As president and CEO of Joseph J. Albanese, Inc., Phillip Albanese is following in the footsteps of his father John Albanese and his grandfather Joe Albanese, who founded the company in 1955. Phillip became CEO and President after serving as COO from 2014 to 2020.

Focused on the mission of “Getting it Done Safely,” Phillip is dedicated to living his company’s core values of safety, people, quality and truth. Phillip believes that success is much more than the buildings and structures the company builds. He is committed to continuing to generate opportunities for his talented team while creating value for the company’s clients and community.

Phillip has worked in many positions throughout the organization. Most importantly was his experience working in the field during the summers while growing up. He still credits this experience as the foundation for both his passion and admiration for the talent of the Joseph J. Albanese team.


Since 2009, Phillip has led system and process development as well as implementations that have been the cornerstone to the responsible growth the organization has enjoyed. He looks to keep the organization’s energy focused on creating opportunities for his team and clients.

Phillip graduated from Boston College in 2008 and currently serves on the Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit High School Board of Directors and the Bellarmine College Prep Board of Trustees. He actively supports causes relating to education, conservation of the outdoors and youth sports in the United States. He and his wife Lindsey have two daughters and a son.
 

Filemon Calderon

Filemon Calderon

Executive Vice President, Field Operations

Filemon Calderon joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. as a mason in 1980 and quickly rose to superintendent. As John Albanese’s right-hand man for more than 30 years, Filemon has been integral to the company’s success, bringing passion and experience to continuing the company’s growth. As the executive vice president of Field Operations, Filemon oversees the company’s entire field operations, consisting of more than 800 craftsmen and craftswomen. The ultimate problem solver, Filemon embodies the company’s motto of “Getting It Done Safely” by motivating and supporting his field workers with the belief that anything can be accomplished.

Dan Dryden

Dan Dryden
Chief Financial Officer

Dan Dryden joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. in 2007 as an assistant controller, moving up to director of Finance in 2012 and taking on the role of chief financial officer in 2016. Now as CFO, he is responsible for all financial operations, including general accounting, treasury management, tax and compliance, payroll and financial reporting as well as maximizing operational efficiencies throughout the company. Dan earned a B.A. in Business Economics with an emphasis on accounting from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2001. He is an active California CPA and a member of the Construction Financial Management Association.

Executive Vice President

Dave Alaimo joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. in 1991 as the chief financial officer. Working alongside John Albanese, he was instrumental in the company’s high-powered growth during the Silicon Valley construction boom. Today, as executive vice president, he leads the strategic execution of the company’s growth plans. In addition to having extensive business experience, including owning his own business, Dave earned an MBA and a B.S. in Business/Finance and Real Estate from San Jose State University. 

Jeff Jacobs

Executive Vice President, Sales

Jeff Jacobs joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. as a part-time construction worker while he was still in college. After college graduation, he worked with company founder Joe and his son John Albanese where he learned the business from the ground up. Today, as the executive vice president of Business Development, Project Management and Estimating, Jeff oversees and mentors the company’s many estimators and project managers, helping ensure accurate bids that deliver on-time, on-budget projects. Jeff earned a B.A. degree from Santa Clara University. 

John Franich

Executive Vice President and General Manager

John Franich joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. in 2015. With extensive construction industry field and office experience, John oversees the company’s operations, management, project performance, safety, quality and environmental concerns. A catalyst for driving exceptional performance, John is focused on strategic objectives and operational best practices. He has served in founding and leadership positions in many industry organizations, including The Beavers; the International Partnering Institute; Transportation California; Associated General Contractors of California; and the Cal-Trans Partnering Steering Committee. John holds a B.S. in Business/Finance from California State University, Chico.  

 Phil Roby

Vice President

An Albanese family friend since childhood, Phil Roby joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. as a young man in the 1980s after attending Santa Clara University. He learned the construction business alongside John Albanese. Today, as vice president, he providers leadership for all areas of the business, including estimating and construction. As the company’s longest tenured employee, Phil helped grow the company 300 times the size it was when he joined. Bringing passion and enthusiasm to every project, Phil exemplifies the core values of the company: safety, people, quality and truth. 

Jim McNinch

Jim McNinch

Vice President, Concrete Structures

Jim McNinch is the vice president of Concrete Structures for Joseph J. Albanese, Inc., where he is responsible for overseeing all of the elevated concrete work the company performs.  Jim brings a tremendous amount of experience and passion to the design, estimating and builds for Joseph J. Albanese’s horizontal concrete work.  Jim is passionate about ensuring that projects are done safely, on time and on budget. Under Jim’s leadership, Joseph J. Albanese elevated concrete work has grown over 300 percent over the last 5 years alone. Jim is a licensed civil engineer in the state of California and earned a B.S in Structural Civil Engineering from California State University, Sacramento. 

Dan McHale

Vice President, General Engineering

Dan McHale joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. in 2006, bringing extensive construction industry experience to his role. Today, as vice president of General Engineering, Dan is devoted to ensuring exceptional quality for the organization’s earthwork and demolition projects. Under Dan’s leadership, Joseph J. Albanese has grown over 10 times to performing over $100,000,000 in general engineering activities annually.  Dan is motivated to create opportunities for our talented team.  Dan holds a B.S. in Business/Finance from California State University, Chico.

Ramiro Contreras
Vice President of Operations

Ramiro Contreras joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. in 2001. As Vice President of Operations, he is responsible for operational strategy and overseeing the team of foremen and superintendents. Ramiro started as a laborer and has been growing his career with the company ever since. Prior to becoming VP of Operations, he was a General Superintendent of Concrete and Operations. His commitment to JJA’s core values has been evident through his key initiatives centered on the team’s development and safety.

Ismael Sandoval
Vice President of Operations

Ismael Sandoval joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. in 2001. As Vice President of Operations, he is responsible for operational strategy and overseeing the team of foremen and superintendents. Ismael started as a laborer, and prior to becoming VP of Operations was a General Superintendent of Site Concrete and Operations. His leadership has been evident in developing and implementing safety programs as well as operational efficiency practices that continue to push forward the company’s operations.

Dino Calabrese
Vice President of Equipment & Logistics

Dino Calabrese joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. in 1999. As Vice President of Equipment and Logistics, he is responsible for overseeing the company’s equipment shop, warehouse and dispatch operations. Dino started as a truck driver, and prior to becoming VP of Equipment and Logistics, he was the Director of Equipment and Logistics. Today, he is responsible for the company’s fleet of more than 500 pieces of equipment and continues to align the inter-company logistics teams to ensure the company’s teams are properly equipped for client projects. 

Michael A. Pacheco 
Chief Technology Officer

Michael A. Pacheco joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. in 2021. As the Chief Technology Officer, Michael is responsible for delivering technology-based business transformation solutions to elevate the company’s services and drive exceptional outcomes for its valued clients. As a results-driven IT leader, Michael has a proven track record of building teams and delivering on successful initiatives across a global landscape.  Michael has more than 25 years of IT and technology industry experience and holds a degree in Management Information Systems & Administration from the Masters Institute of Technology.

John Messing

John Messing
Executive Safety Director

John Messing joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. in 2019, bringing extensive safety performance experience in the construction industry. As executive safety director, he is committed to enabling world-class safety performance by elevating safety leadership skills and empowering all employees in the company’s safety program. A Certified Safety Professional and certified OSHA Outreach Trainer, John is responsible for the development, implementation and management of effective safety and health policies designed to protect the company’s employees. John holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Washington State University.

Bob Rogers
Director of Project Management 

Bob Rogers joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. in 2008. As the director of Project Management, Bob is responsible for overseeing the company’s project management staff who manage 100 jobs each day. With duties including accurate job costing, production tracking and change order management, he is responsible for helping to ensure an on-scope, on-time, and on-budget delivery by his team. Bob holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire.  

Ricardo Rivera
Lead Concrete Estimator

Ricardo Rivera joined Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. in 2007. As the lead concrete estimator, Ricardo is responsible for overseeing the company’s concrete estimators and works closely with his team and clients to coordinate scheduling and ensure accuracy. Ricardo received the Engine Room Achievement Award in 2023 and the #63 Dog Mentality Award in May 2021. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University and is a licensed civil engineer.
