Here is what's new.
Strategically located at the southeast entrance to Moffett Park in Silicon Valley, the Moffett Gateway office campus offers easy access to highways 237 and 101 as well as direct access to an adjacent light rail station. The 15.5-acre campus includes two seven-story LEED Platinum office towers, a nearly 15,000-square-foot fitness center with parking garage and a 49,000-square-foot central commons featuring outdoor amenities.
Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. performed all sitework for this large-scale project, which included building and site demolition, site grading, mass excavation for the garage basement, site concrete and asphalt concrete paving. The scope of work included grading for architectural mounding and bioswales and providing flatwork for a plaza.
As part of the excavation work for the parking garage, JJA managed the (beam and lagging) shoring and dewatering subcontractors. This included working with the subs to create a shoring and well layout and design, with input from the general contractor. In addition, bioswales had to be excavated and flow-through planters had to be constructed around the existing active yet fragile water lines along the site perimeter. The JJA crew used 19 cubic yards of shotcrete to create the planters.
JJA also poured 2,000 linear feet of cast-in-place walls and 13,000 square feet of vehicular PCC. Finishes included broom as well as light and medium sandblast.
Because the project was subjected to a very tight schedule and limited space on the jobsite, all subcontractors had to work together to get the job done on time.
